How to Record GNSS Metadata in Collector for ArcGIS

To configure GPS metadata storage, you need to first add GPS metadata fields to the feature service, either with python scripts or manually. After configuring metadata storage and creating a web map for high accuracy GPS data collection, when adding new point features in Collector, the app will look for certain fields in the feature service and save GPS metadata to its respective field. This information is added to the feature when the user submits it.

How to Compute Datum Offset Values for Eos Tools Pro

Eos Tools Pro offers an offset feature that can be used for datum shifts. Note that the new position computed will populate the Core Location (iOS) and Location Service (Android) and will also be passed on to 3rd party data collection app.

Therefore, care must be taken not to duplicate the datum shift. For example, if using Collector, it is preferable to use the built-in on-the-fly (OTF) datum transformation of Collector instead of this feature. If your app does not support OTF datum transformations, then this tool is for you.

The principle for computing datum offset values is simple: Destination/target datum coordinates minus Origin/current datum coordinates and you enter these values in the Offset menu of Eos Tools Pro:

Destination – Origin = Offset

How to Enable Mock Location on Android

In order for location-aware apps to have access to the more accurate position of the Arrow, Mock Location must first be enabled on your Android device. Eos Tools Pro  will take care of populating the Android Location Service with the Arrow position. Mock Location is available in the "hidden" Developer Mode menu on your device. This how-to guide walks you through how to enable it.

How to Use Android Location Extras with Eos Tools Pro

Eos Tools Pro (starting with version 1.34) uses the Location Extras feature of the Android Location service to pass GNSS metadata to other apps in the form of Key / Value mapping. This allows apps that do not feature a built-in Ntrip client, or NMEA parser, to have access to valuable GNSS information (e.g., DOP’s, estimated accuracies, fix type). In this menu, you'll learn how to configure and use the Location Extras feature of Android location service for use with Eos Tools Pro .
