What’s new in the Eos March 2018 Issue? Forestry.
An hour north of the US border, Montreal is known for its treescape. But in 2011, the emerald ash borer put the city’s 200,000 ash trees at risk. Legacy technology (e.g., paper maps, handwritten field notes) caused delays, location errors, and overpayment of pesticide contractors.
By switching to ArcGIS Collector, Eos Arrow 100 GNSS (GPS) receivers, and iPad®s, the city eliminated its delays and errors and increased speed of treatment by 6,300%.
Today, the city can treat more than 30,000 trees per year, allowing it to execute a long-term reforestation process that’s expected to be completed over several decades.
