Eos first engaged with KimPro Energy (KimPro) after noticing their amazing LinkedIn posts featuring their environmental field work using the Eos Arrow Series® GNSS receivers. KimPro is a Canadian company that provides its clients with top-of-the-line pipeline leak-survey packages that utilize the best equipment available in the industry. In effect, KimPro contributes to society by enabling its clients to reduce methane-gas emissions by conducting (annually mandated) leak surveys, emissions studies, and pipeline mapping. After seeing their social media posts, we knew we had to follow up!
Read on to learn more about KimPro, their mission, and how they use Eos Arrow!
1. Why are you passionate about your job?
At KimPro, we care about the environmental impact of fugitive emissions (accidental gas leaks from pressurized equipment, which can contribute to loss of commodities and pollution) and unidentified sources of methane leaks. Using our industry experience and top-notch technology provided by our suppliers, we strive to help our clients use data to reduce emissions.
2. How did you first find out about Eos Positioning Systems’ GNSS products?
One of our clients requested submeter accuracy for their survey data. I had known one of the Eos representatives for many years, so I decided to reach out. After receiving quick and personalized customer support and learning about all of the Arrow GNSS receiver features, the Arrow 100 ®seemed like a natural fit.
3. What do you use Arrow Series® GNSS receivers for?
KimPro provides an industry-leading pipeline leak-survey package, which utilizes the best equipment available to the industry. When we learned of the Arrow, we knew it had to become part of our package! KimPro requires its surveyors to be GPS tracked for regulatory compliance and reporting reasons. Meeting this requirement is made easy, thanks to the use of advanced technology, including the Arrow and compatible mobile software for highly accurate surveying results.
4. Do you have a favorite experience or memory from your projects with Eos Arrow?
We are new Eos customers as of 2020, so we don’t have any specific experience, but overall all of our experiences to date have been very positive. We have touched each department within Eos and have found the support to be exceptional.
Our field staff have expressed the fact that they love the versatility of the unit. Some mount the antenna in their hat, some place it on top of a backpack, and some have been creative by mounting the whole package together on a backpack. It’s great how the Arrow 100® can be carried in various places while maintaining its functionality.
5. Do you have a favorite feature of Arrow GNSS receivers?
We look forward to exploring our next adventures with Eos and the Arrow line of GNSS receivers for future projects of pipeline locating and mapping for our utility clients.
6. Is there anything we didn’t ask you that you’d like to share with us?
I am always excited and eager to see what Eos will be developing next, and try to be vocal and helpful about what I think could help advance GIS technology. I look forward to seeing Eos apply its innovative spirit toward solutions that further bridge the gap between CAD and GIS. The market is ready, in my opinion, for Eos’ talent to continue delivering elegant, open access, and concise solutions to frequently encountered road blocks.
