  • Session 1: Point-and-Shoot GNSS: Centimeter-Accurate GIS Mapping with a Handheld Laser/LiDAR Device

    Aug 19, 2026 / 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm  |

    Room 1

Experience centimeter accurate GIS data collection using a handheld “point and shoot” RTK GNSS solution that lets you map assets located up to 20 feet away—without accessing them directly. This workshop explores how modern handheld devices combine RTK GNSS with IMU, LiDAR, and laser technology to capture accurate asset locations in challenging environments, including morning, day and night and all weather conditions. Attendees will see how short-offset mapping improves safety, efficiency, and productivity when working around traffic, water, vegetation, and other restricted areas. Real world applications include GIS asset mapping, construction staking, topographic and hydrographic surveys, with data collected directly into ArcGIS Field Maps, FastXY, Survey123, QuickCapture, and other popular field apps.
